AI for Manufacturing

AI for manufacturers, with every quote and quality record approved by your people

Skilled people in manufacturing businesses often spend hours finding drawings, retyping orders and chasing suppliers. We connect AI to your ERP, document stores and inboxes so quotes, quality paperwork and supplier follow-ups arrive prepared, and a named person approves anything that reaches a customer, a supplier or the shop floor.

Where manufacturing time goes today, and what we build instead

SpotDev's AI for Manufacturing builds AI into the ERP, document stores and inboxes a manufacturer already runs, so routine paperwork is prepared for a named person to check and approve.

What we build instead

Without SpotDev

Quotes built from scratch

Each enquiry means finding the drawing, similar past jobs and current costs across several systems before anyone can price it.

With SpotDev

A first draft from your own data

The enquiry matched to similar past jobs and current costs in your ERP, and a draft quote prepared for an estimator to check, price and send.

Without SpotDev

Answers buried in shared drives

Engineers and supervisors search folders for the current procedure, specification or drawing revision.

With SpotDev

Answers that cite the controlled copy

Questions answered from your controlled documents, with each answer pointing to the document and revision it came from.

Without SpotDev

Quality paperwork typed up by hand

Non-conformance reports and corrective actions are written up after the event from notes, emails and photos.

With SpotDev

Drafted from the evidence

Reports and corrective action records drafted from the notes, photos and data you already capture, for your quality lead to complete and approve.

Without SpotDev

Suppliers chased one email at a time

Late purchase orders, missing certificates and changed delivery dates are tracked in inboxes and spreadsheets.

With SpotDev

Chasers queued for approval

Overdue orders and missing documents flagged against your ERP, with follow-up emails drafted for a buyer to approve and send.

What we build for manufacturers

Each workflow runs inside the systems you already use, and the approval step is agreed before anything goes live.

Enquiry and quote preparation

Reads the enquiry and drawings, finds similar past jobs and current costs in your ERP, and drafts the quote. An estimator checks the price and sends it.

Procedure and specification search

Answers questions from your procedures, specifications and work instructions, quoting the document and revision so anyone can check the source.

Non-conformance and corrective action

Drafts non-conformance reports and corrective action records from inspection notes, photos and data, for your quality lead to decide on and close.

Supplier follow-up and due diligence

Flags late orders and missing certificates against your ERP and drafts the chasers. It also collects supplier questionnaires and certificates for whoever reviews supply chain risk.

Order entry and planning support

Turns emailed orders into draft sales orders, and summarises demand and capacity against the current plan for your planner to adjust and approve.

Enablement for your team

Your office, quality and engineering staff trained on the workflow: what it checks, what it cannot see, and when to send something back.

The systems we connect to

  1. 01

    ERP and MRP

Sage 200, Sage X3, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, SAP Business One, NetSuite, Odoo, Unleashed and OrderWise, among others in our integration library.

  2. 02

    Documents and drawings

SharePoint, shared drives and the document store your quality system runs on, with access set so each role sees only what it should.

  3. 03

    Spreadsheets and reports

The planning workbooks, inspection records and Power BI reports your teams already rely on, with each figure traced back to where it came from.

  4. 04

    Email and your CRM

Where enquiries, orders and supplier replies actually arrive, so nothing has to be copied across by hand.

The rules we build to

Manufacturing work carries safety, quality and export obligations, so the boundary is written down before anything runs.

Advisory where safety is involved

HSE says health and safety law applies to AI and expects a risk assessment for any use that affects workplace safety. Our builds inform people. They never write to machine controls or safety systems.

Export-controlled data

Sending controlled technology overseas, by email or through cloud access, can need an export licence. Documents you mark as controlled stay out of the AI workflow unless your export lead approves the set-up.

Quality and product records

ISO 9001 covers documented information, and UKCA technical documentation is typically kept for 10 years after a product goes on the GB market. AI reads these records and cites the revision. Changes go through your own approval.

Employee data kept to a minimum

UK GDPR applies wherever a workflow touches information about named staff. Personal data stays out unless the workflow needs it, and a person makes any significant decision about an employee.

Drafts for a person to approve

Quotes, chasers and supplier emails are prepared for a named person to approve. Nothing reaches a customer or supplier on its own.

Everything is logged

Every draft, approval and rejection is recorded, so you can show an auditor or a customer what the system proposed and who decided.

Common questions

Will it work with the ERP we already run?

Probably. Sage 200, Sage X3, Business Central, SAP Business One, NetSuite, Odoo and others are already in our integration library. What each supports depends on your edition and how it has been set up, which we check rather than assume.

Can AI control our machines or safety systems?

No, and we do not build it to. HSE's position is that health and safety law applies to AI, with a risk assessment for any use that affects workplace safety. Our builds give information and drafts to people, and decisions on the shop floor stay with your engineers and supervisors.

We hold export-controlled drawings. Can we still use AI?

Possibly, but it shapes the design. Government guidance says sending controlled technology overseas by email, or letting someone overseas reach it in the cloud, is a transfer that can need a licence, and responsibility stays with the owner. We keep documents you mark as controlled out of the AI workflow unless your export lead has approved where the data is held and who can reach it.

Does it fit our ISO 9001 quality system?

We design it around your quality system. ISO 9001 covers documented information, so answers cite the controlled document and revision, and anything the AI drafts goes through your existing approval before it becomes a record. ISO published ISO 9001:2026 on 16 Sep 2026. Whether a control satisfies your certification body is their decision.

Can it help with supplier due diligence?

It can collect and summarise what suppliers send you, such as questionnaires and certificates, and flag what is missing or out of date. Organisations that supply goods or services with a total turnover of £36 million or more must publish an annual modern slavery statement. Judgements about supplier risk stay with your team.

How accurate is it?

We will not quote a percentage we have not measured on your own data. Accuracy is established against your past quotes and records during the build, and the approval step exists because it will never be perfect.

What about our employees' data?

UK GDPR applies wherever a workflow touches information about named staff, such as timesheets or shift notes. The ICO says any monitoring of workers must be lawful and fair, and workers must be told about it. We keep personal data out unless the workflow needs it, a person makes any significant decision about an employee, and on their business plans Anthropic and OpenAI do not train their models on your content by default.

Are you giving us legal or regulatory advice?

No. We give no legal or regulatory advice. We build the controls, and your advisers and compliance team rule on your obligations.

What does it cost?

AI Starter gets a team of up to 15 using AI on their own manufacturing work for £3,500, set up and trained remotely over four weeks. One workflow built into your systems is a Custom Agents project at £20,000. Running AI department by department through the AI Accelerator starts at £10,000 per month, committed a quarter at a time. Model and platform usage is billed separately, and prices exclude VAT.

Start with a diagnostic.
