AI for Financial Services

AI for financial services, with every customer decision left to your people

Onboarding files, complaints and client letters take hours of collecting and retyping before anyone applies judgement. We build AI into the systems your firm already runs so that work arrives prepared, and a named person approves anything that reaches a customer, a decision or the regulator.

Where the time goes today, and what we build instead

SpotDev's AI for financial services builds AI into the systems a regulated firm already runs, so files, letters and checks arrive prepared and a named person approves each one.

What we build instead

Without SpotDev

Onboarding files chased by email

Documents arrive in pieces, someone checks each one by hand, and the gaps surface days later.

With SpotDev

Checked as they arrive

Each document read on arrival and matched against the application, with missing or mismatched items queued for a person to resolve.

Without SpotDev

Complaints read from scratch

A handler rebuilds the history from emails, call notes and the account or policy before writing a word.

With SpotDev

A case file ready for the handler

History, key dates and the points raised gathered into one summary, with a draft response for the handler to edit and send.

Without SpotDev

Client letters written by hand

Suitability reports, review letters and renewal notes are retyped from the fact-find and the adviser's notes.

With SpotDev

A first draft from your records

Letters drafted in your templates from the records you hold, each statement traceable to its source, for the adviser or underwriter to sign.

Without SpotDev

File reviews limited by time

Quality checks only reach the files someone has time to read, so problems are found late.

With SpotDev

More files read against your checklist

Files checked against the questions your compliance team already asks, with anything doubtful sent to a reviewer with the reason.

What we build for financial services firms

Each of these prepares the work and leaves the decision with the person who already owns it.

Onboarding and KYC file preparation

Reads identity and company documents, checks them against the application and Companies House, and queues gaps for your onboarding team. It never approves a customer.

Complaint case summaries

Pulls the complaint, the account or policy history and past contact into one summary, drafts a response in your style, and flags possible vulnerability for a person to review.

Suitability and review letters

Drafts suitability reports, annual reviews and renewal letters from the fact-find and the adviser's notes, for the adviser to edit and sign.

Underwriting and claims files

Assembles the file, summarises supporting documents and checks them against your referral rules. The underwriting or claims decision stays with your team.

Compliance file reviews

Reads files and call notes against your monitoring checklist and sends the exceptions to your compliance team with the reason and the evidence.

Enablement for your teams

Your people trained on the workflow: what the system checks, what it cannot see, and when to send something back.

The systems we connect to

  1. 01

    Client, policy and adviser records

Salesforce, Microsoft Dynamics 365, broker platforms such as Acturis and adviser platforms such as Intelliflo. What each allows depends on your edition, which we check rather than assume.

  2. 02

    Documents and email

Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Outlook and Teams, with e-signature through DocuSign, so files are read where they already live.

  3. 03

    Checks and registers

Companies House and the identity and screening tools you already use, with each result recorded against the file it belongs to.

  4. 04

    Data and reporting

Snowflake, Power BI and the spreadsheets your management information runs on, with each figure traced back to its source system.

The rules we build to

Your compliance team decides what each rule means for your firm, and the build gives them the controls and records to act on it.

Consumer Duty

The Duty requires firms to act to deliver good outcomes for retail customers and to avoid causing foreseeable harm. Anything a customer will read is approved by a person first, and the approval is recorded.

Senior manager accountability

The FCA says its rules on accountability for senior managers are relevant to the safe use of AI. Each workflow has a named owner and written approval rules that your accountable senior manager signs off.

Automated decisions

UK GDPR requires safeguards, including human intervention and the right to contest, for solely automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects. Lending, underwriting and claims decisions are made by a person, who sees the prepared reasons.

Outsourcing and third parties

FCA rules say a firm that outsources critical or important operational functions remains fully responsible for its regulatory obligations. We document which AI vendor processes what, where and on which terms, for your third-party assessment.

Prepares, never decides

Files, letters and checks are prepared for a person to approve. Nothing reaches a customer, a decision or the regulator on its own.

Everything is logged

Every preparation, approval and rejection is recorded, so you can show your compliance team, auditors or the FCA what happened and who decided.

Common questions

What does it cost?

AI Starter gets a team of up to 15 using AI on their own work for £3,500, set up and trained remotely over four weeks. One workflow built into your systems is a Custom Agents project at £20,000. Running one financial services team as one wave of the AI Accelerator starts at £10,000 per month, committed a quarter at a time. Model and platform usage is billed separately.

Does the FCA have specific rules for AI?

No. The FCA says it does not plan to introduce extra regulations for AI and relies on existing frameworks, naming the Consumer Duty and its accountability rules for senior managers. Your use of AI is judged under the rules you already work to, which is why approval and logging are built into every workflow.

Can it make lending, underwriting or claims decisions?

We do not build it to. Under UK GDPR, as amended by the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025, a solely automated decision with a legal or similarly significant effect needs safeguards, including the right to obtain human intervention and to contest the decision. Our builds prepare the file and the reasons, and a person in your team decides.

Who is accountable if it gets something wrong?

Your firm and the senior manager who owns the area, as now. The system prepares, a named person approves, and the log shows who decided what and on which evidence.

How does this fit our outsourcing and third-party rules?

An AI vendor is a third party, and FCA rules say a firm that outsources critical or important operational functions remains fully responsible for its obligations. Banks, building societies and Solvency II insurers also work to the PRA's SS2/21, and firms in scope of the operational resilience rules map their important business services. From 18 March 2027, firms in scope of the new FCA rules must notify material third party arrangements and keep a register of them. We give your team the facts it needs to decide whether an arrangement is material.

Is it safe to put customer data into AI?

On their business plans, Anthropic and OpenAI do not train their models on your content by default. We give each workflow access to only the data it needs, keep anything that does not need to go in out of the system, log every action, and set out the position for your chosen vendor in writing for your data protection impact assessment.

Will it work with the systems we already run?

Usually. Salesforce, Dynamics 365, SharePoint and DocuSign are already in our integration library, and we check what your broker, adviser or lending platform allows before committing to anything. What each supports depends on your edition.

How accurate is it?

We will not quote a percentage we have not measured on your own data. Accuracy is established against your past cases during the build, and the approval step exists because it will never be perfect.

Are you giving us legal or regulatory advice?

No. We give no legal, regulatory, financial or compliance advice. We build the controls, logs and approval steps, and your advisers and compliance team rule on your obligations.

Start with a diagnostic.

A short, fixed-scope assessment of which financial services workflows are worth automating, which are not, and where the approval line has to sit. No obligation.
