Often when you join a company, you are expected to hit the ground running, whilst struggling to remember everyone’s names and more importantly, their roles within the company.

How many times have you found yourself in need of help with a particular project, but not known which colleague could help? Or not known someone’s job title? Lookup is a cutting edge “who’s who”. This new tool will help you to make quick searches about your colleagues, and even allows you to get in touch with your workmates, without having actually added them on LinkedIn.

LinkedIn Lookup can help you put a name and job title, to the face. The new app works by asking you for your work email address which will help find all your colleagues and contact them, even if you’re not connected via LinkedIn.

LinkedIn Lookup has a wide range of benefits including:

  1. Helps find the information you are looking for quickly.

Search for a specific skill, job function, name, title or experience. Imagine it’s your first day at work, you have met everyone and have been quickly introduced to “Vivion”, one of the people you’ll work with daily but you can’t remember his job title and you would like to know more about his background. All you will need to do is just type your colleague’s name, “Vivion” for example, into the app and it will show you all the “Vivion’s” in the company with their titles and LinkedIn profile. Or maybe you want to find out more about the CEO, just type “CEO” and you’ll find out immediately. Unlike LinkedIn if you view someone’s Lookup profile, the person will not get a notification to tell them you have viewed their profile.

  • Narrow your search.

LinkedIn Lookup offers a filtered search by past company, location, years of experience, school, function, language and skill. Find out who among your colleagues has social media skills, who can speak Chinese, who knows about Html or simply who they worked for before.

  • Share information with your colleagues only without displaying it on LinkedIn.

This new app enables your colleagues to see information which is not shown on your public LinkedIn profile. If you don’t wish everyone to have access to your phone number or email address, you can still share them with your team via Lookup.

  • Get in touch quickly and easily with your team.

Reach them through email, phone or by chat. If the recipient does not have the app, you can drop them an inbox message which will reach their LinkedIn inbox. Click “Send a message,” type your message, hit “Send,” and your workmate will receive the message on LinkedIn. LinkedIn inboxes via Lookup won’t count against the number of InMails members get each month.
